Ramblings of an economist

I’m a professor of banking and finance at the Maastricht University School of Business and Economics. On this site, you’ll find information about my research, teaching (materials) and some hobby-related stuff.

In addition, you can find “Code": a blog with tips and tricks that may be of help if you are - like me  - an applied economist with a knack for problems related to productivity and efficiency measurement.

If you are thinking about buying the book on Bank Performance that Jaap Bikker and I have published with Routledge, you’ve also come to the right place. The book can be ordered here. On this site you’ll soon find an example data set, programming code and additional results that will help you understand and work with the book.

Of course, you may be a (future) student, and (consider) following one of my courses. In that case, you can find course descriptions and - pretty soon - some additional information as well.

Since there is life beyond and besides economics, I also bother you with some of my other interests. On this site, you’ll find some information on my bike tours, examples of the pictures I like to take, and a bit about single malt whisky, another hobby of mine.

Enjoy!
